The Simple Version

Wherever is designed to keep your data on your device. We don’t require signup, we don’t track you, and we don’t sell your data.

What We Store

On Your Device (Local Storage)

• Your podcast subscriptions
• Your listening history and episode progress
• Downloaded episodes and content
• Your app settings and preferences

All of this data stays on your device. It never leaves unless you explicitly choose to export it.

On Our Servers

• Nothing. We don’t maintain user accounts or store personal data on central servers.

What We Share

Nothing. We don’t share your data with third parties because we don’t collect it in the first place.

Network Activity

Wherever does use the network for:

• Podcast searches - When you search for podcasts, your search queries are sent to our search server. These queries contain no identifying information and are wiped weekly.
• Find feature (AI recommendations) - When you use the Find feature, we store your initial query and record which podcasts you click on to improve results. This data is stored anonymously and automatically deleted after 30 days.
• Content requests - When you stream or download episodes, your device connects directly to the podcast host’s servers (not ours)
• App updates - The app checks for updates and downloads new versions when available

These network requests are necessary for the app to function. We store the minimum data needed to provide and improve the service, and we don’t use this data to identify you personally or track your behavior.

Analytics

We don’t use analytics or tracking tools. We don’t know who you are, what you listen to, or how you use the app.

Mobile Apps (Android & iOS)

The Android and iOS versions of Wherever are wrappers around the core web app. They follow the same privacy principles - your data stays on your device.

Turning Off History

If you don’t want Wherever to track your listening history and progress, you can turn this off in Settings. When disabled, the app won’t remember what you’ve listened to or where you left off.

Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page and post the new policy here.
